Stop Taking Credit for Traveling

san francisco international airportIt doesn’t take any admirable personal skill or quality to travel a lot except (1) money and (2) free time. So, stop taking credit for being such a big traveler, unless you are a pilot on your own trips or you save lives while traveling, fighting ebola or being part of a humanitarian relief agency.

Telling people that you have been to 30 countries doesn’t really say much about you, except that you might be trying to escape from something that bothers you where you live more eagerly than others.

Traveling does not necessarily make you smarter or more open-minded, although it might, especially if you don’t do too many things that are meaningful back home.
