Why Going to See a Live Play Makes Me Sad

Because every time I go to see one, whether it’s at a small theater or a major production, I don’t see anyone there under 50. The younger humans in SF and the surrounding areas are not interested in live theater. They prefer silly movies, alcohol, Facebook and Tinder. I wish our youth knew how much they are missing out in terms of the intensity of emotional experience that only live action on the stage can deliver. It would be great if our high schools and colleges made it mandatory for their students to see at least one play per semester to make their education a little more complete. It’s not that much to ask…
